Sonic Youth, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro play HMV Forum For Q Awards

Kentish Town is set to become a hot bed of musical activity this October as Biffy Clyro, White Lies, Sonic Youth, Kasabian and Lost Prophets all feature in a week of gigs at The Forum to celebrate the run-up to 2009's Q Awards.

The awards, which have been running since 1990, have become one of the UK's biggest and most notable award ceremonies, even if last year the magazine seemed to have lost its marbles by naming Coldplay the 'Best Act in the World Today' and awarding Keane the 'Best Track' of the year award for the frankly forgettable 'Spiralling'. God, was Gwyneth Paltrow picking the winners or something?

Still, for venerable New York noise pioneers Sonic Youth the shows mark what has been a phenomenal year, that has seen the band releasing their 16th studio album 'The Eternal' to critical acclaim on Matador records, curate a travelling exhibition charting the band’s collaborations with visual artists, filmmakers, designers and musicians, and seeing themselves immortalised with signature Fender Jazzmaster guitars.

The Q Awards shows begin on 19th of October with White Lies at the HMV Forum. Tickets will be on general sale from Friday 4th September via the Forum’s website.
