Spice Girls the Musical?

Geri Halliwell has reportedly announced to media sources that she has plans to create a Spice Girls stage musical for London's West End. Bandmates Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham have apparently agreed to support the project.

The news comes after months of rumours that a second reunion was in the works, following comments made by group members to various celebrity magazines and websites.

The Spice Girls were at the height of their career over a decade ago, yet their reunion tour in the winter of 2007/08, which included seventeen shows at London's O2 Arena, sold out in record speed across multiple continents.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has already weighed in on the idea of a Spice Girls musical with an emphatic 'AMAZING!'

Indeed, if plans go through, a new generation of kids will grow up with pop classics such as 'Wannabe' firmly implanted in their psyches, and the Spice Girls' legacy will endure beyond all expectations.

It will remain to be seen, however, whether the musical will rely on a fresh storyline, or simply rehash that of the 1997 tongue-in-cheek feature film Spice World.
