Tour Story: Nick Cave, James Blake, Micky Flanagan and more

Tour Story is a weekly round-up of London’s best upcoming live music and comedy events. Tickets for all of these gigs are on sale this week.

James Blake
Heaven
9th April

It’s been a while since we last heard his dulcet tones, but Mercury Prize Nominee James Blake is back with a new single and a second album in the pipeline. To celebrate his return to the music scene, James has lined up a short string of UK dates this spring. His show at the ICA on the 26th of February may have sold out in the blink of an eye, but tickets for a second London date at Heaven have gone on sale today.

Darwin Deez
O2 Shepherds Bush Empire
2nd May

Hot on the heels of a sold out February tour, offbeat guitar pop maestro Darwin Deez has announced a new UK tour taking place across April and May. The oddly coiffed New Yorker will return to London on the 2nd of May to play the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire where he’ll be busting his trademark moves and showcasing material from his newest album Songs For Imaginative People.

Iron and Wine

The Barbican
31st May

Iron and Wine is the stage name of singer, songwriter and all around troubadour Sam Beam. A fixture of the alternative folk scene for nearly a decade, his music has drawn comparisons to greats like Nick Drake and Cat Stevens. This April sees the release of his fifth album Ghost on Ghost and to commemorate this, Iron and Wine will be playing a special one off show at The Barbican on the 31st of May.

Toro y Moi
Koko
4th June

It’s been hardly a month since Toro y Moi last played London, but it looks like he can hardly keep himself away. Having already dazzled critics with his latest album Anything in Return and his awesome sell out show at the Village Underground earlier this month, Chaz Bundick and co. will return to London this summer for a massive headline show at Koko.

Micky Flanagan
O2 Arena
24th October

Having sold out all of his Back in the Game London tour dates so far this year, Micky Flanagan has just added an extra date to the O2 in October. Ruthlessly deconstructing the Cockney myth with razor-sharp observational wit, expect comic tales of his working class upbringing, where alphabetti spaghetti is a luxury and a bottle of Blue Nun the height of sophistication. Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Hammersmith Apollo
Sat 26th-Sun 27th October

In support of their upcoming album, Push Away The Sky, the ever suited Nick Cave and his motley crue of Bad Seeds plan to let themselves loose on the live audiences of London. The Australian rock group will play not one, but two London dates at the Hammersmith Apollo this October. If you can’t wait till then, the band will be streaming a live performance of their newest album via Youtube on the 21st of February.
