U2 have never exactly been a bunch of wallflowers and the band’s upcoming London gigs at Wembley Stadium will secure their reputation as the world’s most ostentatious band. U2 are set to perform in front of a staggering 88,000 fans at Wembley, which will break the record held by Foo Fighters who appeared in front of an 83,000 strong crowd last year.
The extra capacity for U2’s performance has been made possible by a 64ft high stage that has been dubbed The Claw. The extra fans will watch the show from beneath the structure, which will follow the band to most of the cities on their world tour.
Organisers hope that The Claw, the world’s tallest stage, will become a permanent concert venue that can be turned into a pavilion for outdoor performances.
The obvious question seems to be how fans will see the concert from beneath a giant spider shaped stage, but a slightly more worrying query is; are there really are 88,000 U2 fans in London?
