Vampire Weekend to play Free Shows in London this Week

The New York indie kids are giving it away

On first glance, Vampire Weekend don’t look like modern-day Robin Hoods, but beneath those $40 plaid shirts and perfect hair dos,  beat the hearts of true socialists, who are giving their fans not one, but two chances to see them for free this week.

So if like us, you’re a Londoner who was too skint to pick up tickets for the New Yorkers, you’ll be pleased to know that the band are playing free shows at Somerset House this Thursday and Rough Trade East this Friday. So we think it’s probably karma that they’re giving Florence and the Machine a run for her money in the album charts.  I mean you don’t exactly see old Florence giving stuff away free very often.

Despite thinking that the band’s latest album sounds a bit too much like Paul Simon for comfort, you’ll probably be able to catch us at one of them – after all it’s like my me old mate Trev used to say, ‘if it’s free, then it’s worth every penny’.

UPDATE: Sorry guys, The Rough Trade Show has now sold out - please don't show up at 7 expecting a wristband as it ain't gonna happen!
