Hut, hut, hut...

It’s the Super Bowl this Sunday. As Brits, we don’t really get the rules of American Football, but as sports fans we can play along. As far as we can tell, it’s a game of physicality and endurance where a bunch of blokes dressed like medieval knights attempt to play an overly-complicated game of rugby league while everyone else tries not to fall asleep in the countless ad break-ahem-stops in play.
Then again, if it gives you the chance to stay up late on a Sunday, eat copious amounts of nachos and scream “49ers DUDE” at a TV every ten minutes, then who needs rules? Here’s a list of the best Super Bowl parties in London that we’ve found.
Maple Leaf Super Bowl Extravaganza
Covent Garden
Pre-bookings £10
Apparently Canadians are a lot more like Americans than either side would like to admit. Not only do they kind of sound the same, they also like American Football, apart from they call it gridiron or something. Anyway, the Maple Leaf is a Canadian themed bar, and their having a Canadian themed Super Bowl party this Sunday, with beer, cheering, chicken wings, ribs, and something called poutine (which is chips, cheese and gravy to anyone from the North of England)
The Blues Kitchen’s Super Bowl Sunday
Camden High Street
Free
A vaguely American-themed bar anyway, it would be plain wrong for the Blues Kitchen not to have a Super Bowl Party, so they’re putting the game on their big screen and serving up their killer hot-wings. It’s also free for anyone to come down, which is nice.
The Lexington’s Super Bowl Party
Pentonville Road
Free
you’ve got to love the Lexington. It’s like a living reflection of the trans-Atlantic alliance, providing American whisky and beer in the ambience of a traditional British pub. On Sunday, they’re opening up late to show the game and buying in a ton of cheeseballs.
The Social
Little Portland Street
£10 advance, £5 on the door
One of the hottest tickets in town, the Social’s Super Bowl Parties have been sold out for the last three years running. Showing the game on one of their big screens and providing a DJ to entertain you through the lulls, as well as the usual array of drink offers and competitions, these guys are really making a night of it.
IndigO2
Greenwich
Sold out.
The official NFLUK Super Bowl Party, the IndigO2 is showing the game in true over-blown American style, with Budweiser, Gatorade, cheerleaders and people shouting uplifting slogans to get you pumped up. The only downer – it’s sold out…
