World Record Michael Jackson Thriller Dance

World Record Michael Jackson Thriller Dance

27 August, 2009
by: Spoonfed Team

If you can't quite manage to wait until this year's World Zombie Day, then why not pay tribute to the late Michael Jackson by helping stage the world's largest Thriller dance to commemorate his 51st birthday this Saturday, 29th August 2009. Flashmobs might be SO last year (or the year before, or the year.. yeah) but Jackson fans are bringing back the dead for a mass onslaught of zombie mayhem in London's Trafalgar Square (it was originally planned for Hyde Park).

Currently holding the world record for most amount of people doing the Thriller dance in one spot are a group of Filipino prison inmates. But leave those dashing orange jump suits at home because you're invited to raise hell in all forms of zombie costume delights. Other attempts at Thriller flashmobs include the inventive use of space on the London Underground:

The event's festivities start at 11am in Trafalgar Square with dance rehearsals etc, and the dance kicks off at 1pm (changed from noon). For those that haven't quite polished up on their Michael Jackson Thriller dance moves, we'll leave you with the classic video by the master himself.
