The rap star is in the running.

Fugees star and international rap artist Wyclef Jean has told The Guardian that he will run for president of Haiti in the country’s November elections.
Jean is a one of millions of Haitian ex-pats bred in New York – Brooklyn in particular: he moved there when he was 9 years old but never became an American citizen, choosing instead to keep his Haitian passport.
“I am being drafted to serve my country,” he said. In an interview at his recording studios in New Jersey where he is finishing his album ‘The Haitian Experience’, he said his decision to run was inspired by his experiences after the earthquake in January where 230,000 people died. Jean was involved in rescue missions after the disaster.
Fellow Fugee Pras is supporting another hopeful – Michael Martell – because “he is the most competent candidate for the job”.
