Broadway Bound La Bete Ticket Sales Open Today For Run In West End

Joanna Lumley, David Hyde-Piere and Mark Rylance are set to stun the West End and cross the pond in a revival of David Hirson's La Bete.

Jonanna Lumley, David Hyde-Pierce and Mark Rylance are to star in Matthew Warchus' new production of La Bete from 28th June to 28th August at Comedy Theatre, London before it transfers to Broadway almost immediately after. Booking for the West End run opens today.
Following West End hits Red and Enron, David Hirson's 1991 Moliere-esque play is set for a transatlantic transfer to a yet undetermined Shubert Theatre. Dates and venue are to be announced soon.
David Hyde-Pierce best known for his role as the put upon, love-sick Dr Niles Crane in the hit American comedy Fraser, will play Elmoire a high-brown dramatist opposite Mark Rylance's Valere, a street clown and Jonanna Lumley's portrayal of Princess Conti who comes between them in what will be Lumley's Broadway debut. Mark Rylance can currently be seen playing Johnny Byron in Jerusalem for which he has received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination.
Hirson's play about conflict within a theatre troupe is performed in rhymed verse and won the 1992 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy after having notched up 5 nominations at the 1991 Tony Awards.
