Sam Mendes to direct Charlie and the Chocolate Factory The Musical.

The bar was officially set when Matilda the Musical obliterated the Oliver Awards earlier this year and next year, Roald Dahl will rear his magical head once more to peer mockingly across London's theatre scene as Sam Mendes directs Charlie and the Chocolate Factory The Musical at London Palladium.

The show is presented by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Kevin McCormick with Sam Mendes directing. David Greig has written the book and music and lyrics come from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittma who are the guys behind the songs of Hairspray.

The cast are yet to be announced. Tickets available from October this year for a run that begins in June 2013
