Despite London theatre getting regular bashings for being celeb crazy, it seems stars of the E4 series Glee, Matthew Morrison (Mr Schuster) and Jonathan Groff (Jesse St James), may well be heading to the West End.

The American musical TV series Glee, “a biting comedy for the underdog in all of us”, follows the efforts of a team of musically capable misfits and their earnest but flawed music teacher as they try to make it in the cut-throat world of high school show choirs.

Jonathan Groff, who has recently completed a run in Broadway's Spring Awakening, will star in the murder thriller Deathtrap at Noel Coward Theatre which previews from 21st August. Groff will play Clifford, the former student of best selling novelist and playwright Sidney Bruhl (Simon Russell Beale) who begins writing a play about the real death of Bruhl's wife.

Matthew Morrison has been in talks with Donmar Warehouse, who after the success of Red and A Street Car Named Desire starring Rachel Weisz seem super keen to get another celebrity on stage. Morrison who made a name for himself in musical theatre before Glee said “I met with Michael Grandage and Rob Ashford and they gave me a tour of the Donmar. It’s such an amazing space.”

“That [appearing there] is something I might be able to do because the runs are so short. They were just saying, ‘Come to us with a project you would want to do’. And so I have some ideas for stuff I have been thinking about”.

We're holding our breath in anticipation of Sue Sylvester making her way over. The new series of Glee is due to start in September 21st in the US and probably here a few months later.
