Acclaimed film director turns his attentions to the stage at Donmar Warehouse

Film director Joe Wright, the man behind the Keira Knightley-starring films Pride and Prejudice, Atonement (hark at the accents in that one) and the upcoming Anna Karenina (opens Friday) makes his directorial stage debut with Trelawny of the Wells by Arthur Wing as part of the autumn season at Donmar Warehouse (15th February - 13th April)
The story follows an odd-ball thespian who decides to give up the theatre but can't quite fit into the more conventional, non-theatrical world. She is transformed by the everyday and can no longer capature the melodrama that sped her to fame so she goes on a quest to find a playwright who writes real good real drama. It's all a bit naval-gazey with a love story weaved in but should be fun.
Other highlights of the season include the previously announced Berenice starring Anne Marie-Duff (from 27th September) and Conor McPherson's excellent, haunting play The Weir (from 18th April).![]()
