Rachel Tucker of I'd Do Anything fame proves reality TV is not always a career killer.

Reality TV star Rachel Tucker, a finalist in the BBC's hit show I'd Do Anything featuring judge Andrew Lloyd Webber, is set to play the evil Elphaba in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Proving that talent can on occasion be unearthed through reality TV, her continued success since I'd Do Anything in 2008 is testament to her solid performances and undeniably strong voice. Popular with the judges though not the viewers, Tucker has since gone on to star in We Will Rock You at Dominion Theatre, and perform as part of the celebration of Last Night Of The BBC Proms in Belfast City Hall alongside fellow finalist Niamh Perry.

In taking over the role of Elphaba, Tucker will replace Alexia Khadime who played Nala in the West End staging of The Lion King at Lyceum Theatre for four hugely successful years. She also joins Louise Dearman – most famous for her role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita – who will be playing the new Glinda the good witch.

Wicked tells the story of the witches of Oz before Dorothy came to town. It has been running in London for four years and recently reported 2009 as its highest grossing year so far. Rachel Tucker will commence her new role from 29th March 2010.
