The juggernaut musical takes on TV

Rumours abound that actress and producer Salma Hayek is working on a mini-series of the hit musical Wicked with American TV Network ABC. Currently at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre, and on Broadway, Wicked has smashed box office records repeatedly (though Spiderman, which is still unofficially opened, whooped its ass last week in the States).
Hayek's mini-series is planned to be a faithful serialisation of the book by Gregory Maguire, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. As yet, ABC who created Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and Alias have only asked for a script to be written by Erik Jendresen, the man behind multiple episodes of the Emmy Award-winning American WWII series Band of Brothers.
The TV mini-series is likely to run for eight one-hour-long episodes telling the back story of the witches of Oz. It's also unlikely that there will be any singing.
