Jonathan Kent's interpretation of the Stephen Sondheim musical, Sweeney Todd, will transfer to Adelphi Theatre in March 2012.

Sweeney Todd starring Imelda Staunton and Michael Ball (yes, the guy in the picture is the same guy who was in Hairspray) will transfer to Adelphi Theatre in March 2012 and this show is pretty much all about the two of them.

Most reviews of the Stephen Sondheim musical at Chichester Festival Hall questioned the set and elements of the interpretation by director Jonathan Kent but they generally raved about Staunton, particularly The Guardian's Michael Billington who gave it five stars. It's unsurprising since the Olivier award-winning actress rarely fails to impress, and she's at her best in these creepy, dark roles. She's even good in The Awakening, a film which is mediocre at best, and in Sweeney Todd she has the meaty role of Mrs Lovett.

Sweeney Todd will run at Adelphi Theatre from 10th March - 22nd September 2012 and tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10am.
