Last round-up before Christmas!

Christmas Castings
Jerry Springer, British-born former mayor of Cincinnati and renowned chat show host, is set to be sharing the role of Captain Hook with David Hasselhoff at New Wimbledon Theatre. Whilst the Hoff is doing the majority of performances, Springer will be taking the ones that he can't do because of, erm, whatever reasons big stars have for not doing the full run of a show.
Matt Willis, undeterred by the floppage of Flashdance, is going from one movie musical to another. From 21st January, just six days after Flashdance closes, he will be on tour with Footloose, which opens in Newcastle. The national tour runs until July 2011, though the ex-Busted singer will only be staying until the end of March.
Susan McFaddon will be taking over the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde in January. McFaddon, winner of ITV's Grease is the Word, has been with Legally Blonde since it started its London run in December 2009, and has been Sheridan Smith's understudy for the lead role since October.
TV personality Ruby Wax will be opening a new stage show in February. Ruby Wax – Losing It has music and lyrics by Judith Owen and will run at the Menier Chocolate Factory for five weeks. She says, "A while back you couldn't mention you were gay, then came the 'C' word (cancer) and not so long ago you couldn't even say you were a witch. Now the big stigma is mental illness which is weird because one in four of us has got it." From this one-in-four point of view, she explores all the things that lead to mental illness.
Finally
A shout out from our friends over at MSFT, who are “looking for poets and performance makers of all kinds”. If you're free on 25th January and want to be considered for either a ten-minute or a twenty-minute slot at their open mic night SpeechMotion, send them a video or recording of your work and cross your fingers! [contact speechmotion@gmail.com]
And lastly, there are reports that it is, in fact, Christmas next week. Merry Christmas!
