London-based comic wins the annual stand-up competition in Edinburgh.

London based Irish woman, Aisling Bea, has beat eight of Britain and Ireland’s up-and-coming comedians to be crowned the winner of the Foster's ‘So You Think You’re Funny?' stand-up competition at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Aisling Bea (London) was followed in second place by Jonathan Pelham (Yorkshire) and joint third place was awarded to Murdo Haggs (Glasgow) and Wayne Mazadza (Edinburgh). Each act had eight minutes to prove just how funny they were and were judged by an all female judging panel including Gilded Balloon’s Artistic Director, Karen Koren and celebrity judge Ruby Wax.
The winner recieves a cash prize and a trip to perform at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival.
Now in its 25th year’, past ‘So You Think You’re Funny? winners have included Lee Mack, Peter Kay, David O’Doherty, Rhona Cameron, Tommy Tiernan, Miles Jupp, Rob Rouse, Dylan Moran and 2011 winner Tommy Rowson.
This year the search for the best comedy newcomer took competition organisers from the Gilded Balloon to Brighton, Bristol, Dublin, Glasgow, Inverness, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Sutton Coldfield.
