A closer look at this year's line-up.

It's not long to go now until the May Day bank holiday, which means we are officially in the summertime festival season - yee ha! The first festival of the summer is, of course, the Camden Crawl, a sprawling arts and music showcase with 300 artists performing in pubs, bars and auditoriums all over Camden. Having split the comedy and music tickets up last year with limited success, 2012's Crawl will thankfully go back to having an all-inclusive wristband, so you can roam wherever you like. From midday to 7pm on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May, there is plenty of excellent comedic goings on; curated by some of the capital's best promoters.
We can’t wait to check out the Horace Fingernips musical, written by The Pranker's Ross Lee and Harry Deansway (promoter of Deansway's Comedy Club). A horror story about an aspiring comedian (Barry Chancer) who does a deal with the demon prince of humour (Horace Fingernips) to take him to the top, it's set in the comedy industry, in a world inhabited by evil villains and a talking mattress. How good does that sound?!
This year's Crawl will have a political edge with Lolitics taking over the Camden Head on Saturday. Hosted by stand-up comedian and writer Chris Coltrane, this is a comedy club for socialists, anarchists, liberals and lefties; packed full of jokes about everything that matters.
Cult comedy night Knock2Bag are presenting some cutting-edge, diverse acts at the Black Heart on Saturday, including Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award nominees Totally Tom, the inexplicable Brian Gittins, German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn and 30 Rock scriptwriter Hannibal Burress, over from the States.
Really Lovely Comedy (at the Black Heart on Sunday), known for its friendly atmosphere and free cake, has an exciting stand-up, sketch and musical line-up that includes Patrick Monahan, Jay Foreman, The Beta Males and Frisky and Mannish.
This year will see Crack Comedy curating a stage for the first time at Camden Rock on Saturday, showcasing some of their favourite acts including the devilishly funny Carey Marx, rising sketch stars Jigsaw and award-winning young stand-up Nathon Caton.
The 99 Club is also hosting a stage for the first time at the Camden Rock on Sunday with stand-up from Matt Green, Jo Bor, Patrick Monahan and Suzi Ruffell, while over at the Camden Head, Manchester comedy club Gag Reflex offer up an eclectic mix of comics including brilliant oddball Tony Law, ex-Hollyoaks star turned comedian, James Redmond, Michael J Dolan and more.
And that’s before you’ve even thought about poetry, bands, hip hop Shakespeare, or art history in the pub.
