Tap dancing duo trumps Russell Kane and Noel Fielding in Comic Relief dance-off.

Circuit stand-up Charlie Baker and Emmerdale star James Thornton have beat favourites Noel Fielding and Russell Kane in the Let's Dance for Comic Relief final.

The pair performed the classic tap dancing routine 'Puttin' On The Ritz' with Baker playing the role of the tramp. They are the first winners of the the fundraising competition not to perform as members of the opposite sex.

Stand-up comic Kane scored the second number of votes for his drag version of Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love,' leaving crowd favourite Fielding and his Kate Bush/'Wuthering Heights' impersonation in third place.

There was an audible "boo" from the studio audience when hosts Steve Jones and Alex Jones announced that Fielding was the eliminated from the  competition. Perhaps they were swayed by the appearance of fellow Mighty Boosh star, Julian Barratt, who swept in at the end of Fielding's performance dressed as Heathcliff.

Fourth place contestant Ade Edmondson was also joined by a comedy partner as Rik Mayall dropped a novelty-sized one-tonne anvil on Edmondson during the final moments of his version of the 'Dying Swan' from the ballet Swan Lake.

The dance show raised more than £1million for Comic Relief.
