The Funny Women finalist is seriously hurt after a flying stunt for charity goes wrong.

Comedian Holly Walsh has been seriously injured after an attempt to 'fly' off West Sussex's Worthing Pier went wrong. The Funny Women finalist and CBBC presenter was competing in the resort's annual 'birdman' competition, in which contestants in makeshift flying contraptions battle it out for the longest airborne distance and a prize of £30,000.
Walsh's jump, for which she was attached to a cardboard helicopter, ended in catastrophe after she entered the water in an awkward position. The competition was halted for 20 minutes while lifeguards pulled her out of the water and transported her to hospital.
Spokesman for Shoreham lifeboats Dave Cassan said, "We can confirm we were tasked to get a person out of the water. It is thought she has a serious fracture above her elbow and a dislocated shoulder. The inshore lifeboat brought her to the shore in Worthing and she was transferred to hospital by ambulance."
The comedian was competing in the two-day contest, which draws around 10,000 spectators per year, to raise money for terminal cancer charity Rainbows Children's Hospice. Her flying partner Joel Hicks, amusingly dressed as Rambo at the time, escaped unharmed. He told the Brighton Argus, "The jump seemed to go fine. I don't know anything more."
