The Eddie-nominated funnyman is snapped taking cocaine on the street.

Scandalous news, folks - Eddie nominee and new host of Channel 4's Stand Up for the Week Jack Whitehall has been caught taking cocaine on the street. The young comedian was snapped by serial undercover celebrity-embarrassers News of the World snorting a line of the drug outside a nightclub in Manchester last weekend.

In what was obviously their best coup since having Fergie beg them for sweet, sweet cash last month, the tabloid managed to get their hands on a photo of Whitehall with cocaine-topped Blackberry on his knee, holding a rolled-up £20 note as he prepared to ingest the drug. They've also dug up an unnamed 'source' who says he "didn't seem to care who saw him" and was "sitting in the street balancing his Blackberry on his knee and tipping the cocaine onto it before snorting it up his nose."

21-year-old Whitehall, whose new show premieres on Channel 4 this Friday night, was in Manchester for the Parklife music festival and was en route to a post-fest party when he was caught with the goods. He forced to issue an apology after News of the World came to him with the pictures, although the network is standing by him. "My behaviour recently has not been up to the standard of what those who know me well would expect", Whitehall said. "I know I have let myself and my family down. I am committed to putting it right and I hope people will not pass judgement on me too readily in the meantime." Maybe at least find a bathroom cubicle next time, eh, Jack?
