Scared you'll get comedy withdrawals once Edinburgh's over? Well, fret no more as we bring you a guide to the best shows at the Greenwich Comedy Festival.

Tom Green

After a barnstorming first year in 2009, London's biggest comedy festival returns to the Old Royal Naval College, from Tuesday 7th-Sunday 12th September. There are loads of quality comedy shows on offer here from full-length solo gigs to mixed bills.

Situated on the college's riverside lawns, you can wander through the Spiegel Garden of mirrors, laugh till it hurts watching comedy in the big top, dance like a loony in the silent disco and marvel at the stilt-walkers, dance troupes and burlesque dancers wandering through the grounds.

Open from 6pm-midnight during the week and 2pm-1am during the weekend, the site is free to get in with all shows individually priced. Here is a run-down of some of our top picks (sadly Bill Bailey has now sold out).

Tom Green - TUESDAY, 8pm, £20, Big Top
You'll remember Tom Green as the loony who starred in Road Trip and Freddy Got Fingered. Bringing his acclaimed live show to the UK for the first time, Green will showcase his unpredictable personality and his cracked out view of the world around him.

Ed Byrne - THURSDAY, 7:30pm, 18.50, Big Top
Observational Irish stand-up Ed Byrne promises headlines tonight's mixed bill. The Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You regular has been selling out huge tours, while captivating critics and audience alike. Byrne is also joined by one of the UK's funniest poets, Tim Key, top one-liner specialist Stewart Francis and witty compere Dan Atkinson.

Jerry Sadowitz - FRIDAY, 8:30pm, £20, Spiegel Tent
Legendary offensive comedian and magician Jerry Sadowitz makes a rare appearance in Greenwich tonight.  His style is definitely best suited for punters who like their comedy vitriolic and fierce, no cow is too sacred for this hilarious nihilist.

Eugene Mirman - FRIDAY, 7pm, £14, Spiegel Tent
Star of Flight of the Conchords, Mirman is a brilliantly offbeat New York-based comedian. With acclaimed albums and tours with Patton Oswalt's Comedians of Comedy, this is a great opportunity to catch a rare UK performance from the US star.

Reginald D Hunter - FRIDAY, 7:30, £18.50, Big Top
Join one of the most celebrated comics in the country for a blend of down-to-earth honesty and hilarious anecdotes. Nominated for the coveted Perrier award three times, Hunter never fails to deliver on smarts and wit. He is supported by hapless Shooting Stars regular Angelos Epithemiou and The Thick Of It's Will Smith.

David O'Doherty - SATURDAY, 6:30pm, £14, Speigel Tent
Edinburgh Award winner 2008, David O'Doherty returns fresh from this year's Edinburgh Festival with his new show, Somewhere Over the David O'Doherty. This Irish comic excels at the sub-genre of musical comedy, playing lo-fi songs on his Yamaha keyboard, interspersing them with witty observations.

Stewart Lee - SATURDAY, 7:30pm, £18.50 - Big Top
He has been cited by Ricky Gervais as 'the funniest, most cliché-free comedian on the circuit'. Stewart Lee brings a dose of his erudite, sarcastic wit to Greenwich tonight, joined by the ballsy Jenny Eclair, Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Phil Nichol and Argumental captain Rufus Hound as host.

BUG: The Evolution of Music Video
- SUNDAY, 5pm, £15, Big Top

Join Adam Buxton for this special edition of his music video show BUG. The comedian, writer and music video director will be showcasing a range of his favourite clips accompanied by his own insightful and hilarious contributions.

Popcorn Comedy - SUNDAY, 9:15pm, £10, Speigel Tent
This fantastic monthy club presents some of the funniest videos found online alongside live performances from some of the best comics on the circuit. Tonight they present a special show in the Spiegel Tent, with special guest comedians David Schneider (Alan Partridge, The Day Today, On The Hour), Holly Walsh (Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks) and Dan and Dan (The Daily Mail song).
