Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year 2013 - finalists announced!

Award-winning comedy actress and writer, Lucy Beaumont is among the list of Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year Award hopefuls. 



Among the myriad of great events taking place at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival this year, the Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year Awards ceremony is one of the highlights. Now in its 19th year, the award has launched the careers of comedians such as Rhod Gilbert, Jason Manford and Johnny Vegas, as well as more recent award recipients like 2011’s joint winners Tom Rosenthal and Ben Target and 2012’s winner Matt Rees.

This year’s list of finalists includes: BBC New Comedy Award 2012 Winner, Lucy Beaumont; Laughing Horse New of The Year 2010 semi-finalist Romesh Ranganathan; Chortle Student Comedy Award winner 2011 Adam Hess; talented character comedian Jamie Demetriou; Amused Moose New Act finalist, Danny Ward; Chortle Award nominee 2012, Mark Simmons, BBC New Comedy Award 2011 finalist, Tez Ilyas and Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year winner 2012, Kwame Asante.

The award ceremony takes place on Saturday the 23rd of February and the winner will also recieve a £1,000 prize. The event will be compered by special guest Jarred Christmas and features a panel of industry judges from The Evening Standard, Comedy Central, Dave and the Leicester Mercury.
