Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year finalists announced

The shortlist is in for the comedy newcomer's award.



The finalists of the prestigious Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year Award have been confirmed, with up-and-coming comics including Chris Turner, Darren Connell, Danny Sutcliffe, Richard Hanrahan, Joe Wells, Matt Rees and Liam Williams in the running for the £1000 prize, to be awarded at this year's Leicester Comedy Festival.

Previous winners of the award include Rhod Gilbert, Jason Manford, Johnny Vegas and 2011’s joint winners Tom Rosenthal (2011 British Comedy Award nominee) and Ben Target. 

The competition will take place on Saturday 18th February at the Y in Leicester with special guest compere Jarred Christmas overseeing proceedings.
