Ghost Proto-what?

To counteract those back-to-school January blues, the comedy cosmos is really helping us out this month. As well as a plethora of chortle-riffic gigs to choose from, the team behind the London Comedy Film Festival have decided to launch their inaugural event during the most depressing week of the year, the 26th-29th January 2012. Held at the BFI Southbank, the festival will champion comedy film-making with four action-packed days of film previews, old classics, masterclasses and parties.

Kicking off with a preview of the eagerly-antipated The Muppets movie and French festival favourite The Fairy, writer-director of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Edgar Wright will also be introducing a double bill of Shaun of the Dead and one of Mike Leigh's best-loved films, Life is Sweet, followed by an onstage conversation with special guests.

The festival then closes on Sunday 29th with a 50th anniversary showing of the rarely-screened British classic Go To Blazes, and the world premiere performance of The Day Off, the legendary lost Galton and Simpson script for Tony Hancock. There'll be a showcase of new British talent, a school of slapstick for kids, post-screening parties and a two day course for young film-makers wanting to kickstart their comedy career.

We can't think of a better comedy event to end the month on and don't just take our word for it. Jerry Zucker, LoCo Patron and writer-director of AIRPLANE! said: Everyone knows the old biblical phrase; "And God loves most, those who make others laugh." Clearly the London Comedy Film Festival is doing God's work. I wouldn't miss it if I were you."
