Think you could write the next Peep Show? Is Graham Linehan your hero? Could your sketch show be that little bit better? Then you might want to pop down to the London Comedy Writers' Festival. Over 50 of the biggest names in comedy witing, producing, directing and performance are taking part, giving talks and round-the-table sessions on how to write better comedy.
Speakers include:
Jessica Hynes, co-writer of Spaced; writer, actor and presenter, Griff Rhys-Jones; Green Wing's Stephen Mangan; fomer head of BBC Comedy, Jon Plowman; leading scriptwriter John Langdon; script editor of Peep Show and The Inbetweeners, Robert Popper; co-writer of Borat!, Dan Mazer and many, many more.
On Friday night there is a pre-registration and networking party, while Saturday is the big day. From 9am till 7:30pm over 30 sessions will take place with titles such as:
- The Rules of Comedy Sub Genres
- Your Script: From Writer to Producer to Broadcaster
- What They Don't Teach You At Comedy Writing School with Robert Popper
- TV Comedy Drama: What the Broadcasters Want
- Are You Writing For The BIGGEST Audience?
- Why You Need To Break Into Radio Comedy (and how to do it)
- Writing Political Comedy And Satire
The last day of the festival - Sunday, will be an informal networking day, with an 11am start. Here you can mingle and get the chance to have more relaxed chats with writers and producers.
