The American magic veterans come to the Hammersmith Apollo this July.

This summer's shaping up to be quite a decent one for international comedy guests – first Deuce Bigalow hits the Udderbelly tent, now legendary US comic magicians Penn and Teller are set to tour the UK for the first time in 16 years.
The pair, who have performed sold-out runs on Broadway and been nominated for multiple Emmys for their television specials, will hit the Hammersmith Apollo for five nights in July.
In their 35-year career, Penn and Teller have racked up pretty much every accolade in the biz. Their Las Vegas magic show won them Magicians of the Year five times, their Showtime series Penn & Teller: BS!, which exposes the frauds behind various magic tricks, has been nominated for 13 Emmys, and they've also appeared on pretty much every US comedy series in existence. (If you're suffering from that same niggling feeling we did of knowing the long-haired Penn Jillette from somewhere, it's probably from that Friends episode where he convinces Joey to buy the encyclopedias. Or, more embarrassingly, as the head warlock in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Not that we ever watched that...)
The kooky duo's act usually consists of a mix of gory tricks, clever pranks and exposing the truth behind common magical acts. While loudmouth Penn tends to present the tricks, it's usually the diminutive, softly-spoken Teller who cops the brunt of the action – he's previously been hung upside-down over a bed of spikes in a straitjacket, submerged in a huge container of water and run over by an 18-wheel tractor. Ah, it's always the shy guys!
Tickets go on sale this Friday, so for a chance to catch one of the world's best magic acts, put it in your diary to snap some up.
