Miranda Hart and Friday Night Dinner lead British Comedy Award nominations

The comedian and sitcom have four nominations each.

Miranda Hart and Friday Night Dinner have the most British Comedy Award nominations this year, with a total of four each, including 'Best Sitcom'. Hart - who cleaned up at last year's awards winning three gongs for her role in BBC2 sitcom Miranda - is also up for 'Best Female TV Comic', 'Best TV Comedy Actress' and the 'People’s Choice Award for the King or Queen of Comedy'.

Harry Hill, student sitcom Fresh Meat and Olympics mockumentary Twenty Twelve aren't far behind, with three nominations each.

The winners will be announced on Friday night at a ceremony in London, hosted by Johnathan Ross. The show will be broadcast live on Channel 4 at 9pm.
