Hitting the highs...

The first Together We Can Walk On Water event in early July played host to the criminally underrated Hindi-rock of Elephant Stone who blew away the audience with their breezy psychedelic rock. It couldn't have been a better way to start off the event, and the promotions company, which aims to showcase the finest new music, returns to The Macbeth on the 13th October.

The headline act will be Sky Parade, a band who've been bubbling under the radar for some time now but deserve to have their music heard by a wider audience. They create blissfully brilliant pop-style shoegaze which floats along on falling drum riffs and delicate spiral guitar feedback hooks. The LA band could be described at times as The Stone Roses crossed with My Bloody Valentine, but it's hard to pin down the band who can drift from brooding orchestral rock to surf-indie within a verse. 'See The World From The Stars' is a great example of this, beginning with pounding guitars before creeping into a haunting chorus which loops around in your head.

Sky Parade's frontman is no stranger to the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, having been in the Brian Jonestown Massacre from 2000-2004 before forming Sky Parade and supporting the likes of The Dandy Warhols and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The band have been receiving praise from various outlets of the music press and this could be an opportunity to catch them before they get a bit bigger.

The rest of the line-up isn't half bad either, including The Koolaid Electric Company, The See See and The Superimposers. Nice to see bands beginning with 'The' haven't gone out of fashion just yet. The Superimposers have been making quite a name for themselves with their debut album 'Sunshine Pops' being a Rough Trade album of the month as well being hailed by the Guardian. It's hard to believe, and quite nice, that their sunshine pop (it's all in the name really) is by an English band, and not somewhere on the Californian coast.
