Cuba, Ryan Gander and Documentary Photography - Editor's Choice, Exhibitions
21 April, 2011
by: Tom Jeffreys
Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week to come. Tom Jeffreys selects his top three exhibitions.

From Wednesday 27th April
Rhythms of Emotion @ Capital Culture
James Sparshatt – photographer and co-founder of Capital Culture – has a solo show at the gallery this April and May. James is an expert on Cuba and Latin America. His work seeks to capture the incredible vibrancy, energy and freedom of the people there. But his images are also about identity, economics and cultural difference. This should be a cracking show.
From Thursday 28th April
Young British Art @ Limoncello
The increasingly celebrated Ryan Gander curates an exhibition of work by emerging artists at Limoncello this summer. As the title implies, this is a survey show examining the kinds of works being produced by the next big things in the contemporary art world. There are 36 artists involved and, rather oddly, all of the works on show are black and white.
From Sunday 1st May
Photography – New Documentary Forms @ Tate Modern
Five rooms at Tate Modern are housing recently acquired photographic works by five contemporary photographers, all exploring the power of the camera as a documentary medium. Themes range from conflicts in Iraq, elections in Congo and power production in the US.
