05 August, 2011
by: Tom Jeffreys

Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week to come. Tom Jeffreys selects his top three exhibitions.

Ron Arad

From Tuesday 9th August
Ron Arad's Curtain Call @ The Roundhouse
Multi-talented artist/architect/designer Ron Arad has constructed an amazing curtain made of 5,600 silicon rods at The Roundhouse. It acts as a kind of canvas for a broad range of films, performances and interactive pieces – all put on by artists and performers specially selected by Arad himself. Expect appearances form the likes of Hussein Chalayan, Christian Marclay and David Shrigley.

From Wednesday 10th August
Wit, Fear, Sarcasm @ Fine Art Society
The Fine Art Society brings together the work of five international artists for this summer group exhibition exploring the tensions of contemporary life. The works involve a number of techniques, from screenprinting to painting over old photographs, to explore the way we view our connection with the past.

From Friday 12th August
Orientations @ Hoxton Art Gallery
A two-pronged exploration of movement, form, atmosphere and the lone female figure at Hoxton Art Gallery this August and September. There's photography referencing Dutch golden age painting by Guler Ates alongside new video and stills by Sara Hibbert. The exhibition's opening night also sees a performance by contemporary dancer and choreographer Kerrily Aitchison.
