Art which is also a disco

Wednesday 20th July
Art which is also a disco @ Villain Bar
A host of East London's finest are putting the 'art' in party this week. Literally. Subtitled, rather aptly, "a disco, which is also art", the night at Villain Bar (upstairs from East Village) is put together by the dog-loving art controversialists from the semi-legendary Decima Gallery. Expect all manner of art, performance, disco sparkliness and other assorted East End fun times, with appearances from such local luminaries as Ingrid Z of the Residence.

From Thursday 21st July
A-L-L-O-T-M-E-N-T-S 2011 @ Schwartz Gallery
Who was it that once said, "Gardening is one of the great barometers of civilisation"? Oh, wait that was me. Sorry... Anyway, it's probably true, and what form of gardening epitomises the spirit of community and collaboration better than the allotment? Well, this summer for the second year in a row, Schwartz Gallery in Hackney Wick presents its own take on the allotment, by dividing the gallery space into lots and letting the local artists to make of it what they will. Intriguing.

From Saturday 23rd July
Royal Fabergé @ Buckingham Palace
Uh oh! It's Fabergé egg time over at Buckingham Palace this summer, as the royals exhibit over 100 beautiful objects produced by the world famous Russian jeweller Peter Carl Fabergé in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I love Fabergé eggs – my desk is littered with them – and this looks like being one of the sparkliest events of the year.
