Editor's Choice - Exhibitions

27 August, 2010
by: Tom Jeffreys

Every Monday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Tom Jeffreys selects his top three exhibitions.

WITHSTORE

From Thursday 2nd September
WITHSTORE @ Rokeby
I just can't get enough of WITH's pseudo-corporate management jargon: 'at withyou.co.uk we provide Experiential OffsettingTM through the creation of Unique Life Enhancement SolutionsTM'. I stil don't fully understand what they really do, but this month they're setting up shop at Rokeby. Should be intriguing to say the least.

From Friday 3rd September
Marcus Coates @ Kate MacGarry
I interviewed marcus a while back in advance of a performance piece at The Coronet in which he came on stage with Chrome Hoof with a real horse's head on his head. He's awesome. He's also videoed people pretending to be birds at breakfast, performed a shamanic ritual dressed in a deer skin, and pottered around the streets of Elephant and Castle dressed only in his pants, with a badger on his head. He's now got a well-earned solo show at Kate MacGarry.

From Saturday 4th September
1+1+1 @ St John on Bethnal Green
One of my favourite galleries in London is undertaking its first off-site project, and it sounds like a cracker. Alicia Canes Chved curates a collection of artists' books, David Sutton and Kaleid Editions founder Victoria Browne present some improvisational dialogue, and Victoria is also showing an installation that incorporates various bits of scientific weirdness like the large hadron collider and the "ever-elusive Higg's boson"...(?) Nope, me neither.
