Simon Lee opens up his record box for Spoonfed.

Few would disagree that Faze Action, aka brothers Robin and Simon Lee, are among the most influential acts in modern electronic music. With influences as far reaching as Arthur Russell to Asian Folk, they shaped much of what became the nu-disco explosion, beginning with the seminal 'Original Disco Motion' and 'In the Trees' almost 20 years ago.
Ahead of their appearance at East Village on NYE with fellow nu-disco stalwart Ray Mang, Simon has picked his top five influential tracks from his career.
1.Arthur Russell - Another Thought
"One of my favourite Arthur Russell tracks. When I first heard this I knew the next track we would make would feature a Cello. This is the first time I heard the song writing skills of the great man after Loose Joints "Is It All Over My Face", the fact that he could create a disco classic and then turn his hand to singing and song writing was a real inspiration!"
2.David Joseph - You Can't Hide Your Love (Larry Levan Mix)
"An amazing record which still gets played today as different generations discover it.
This is the first time I had heard of Larry Levan in the late '80s, I wanted to discover more which at the time was very hard as there was no internet and no photos anywhere! However the myth built and it opened up a whole new exciting world of music!"
3. Talking Heads -Naive Melody (This Must be The Place)
"A truly great song whch cuts through time and generations. Helped along with the recent Psychemagik re-edit."
4. James Vincent - Space Traveller
"Lovely downtempo spacey folk record which was one of the first influnces on the Stratus Energy LP and set us off into outta space!"
5. Nick Straker Band - A liitle Bit Of Jazz
"The ultimate '80s boogie party record, simple vocal hooks that work so well. A real lesson in how to write vocal hooks for dance music!"
