Madonna, Parallel Dimensions and Catwalk Shows - Editor's Choice, Lifestyle

Tom Armstrong picks his top three coolest, quirkiest and downright awesomest events from the week ahead.

All week
Reflections of Alternate Dimensions @ Jaguar Shoes

Despite having a name like a 1971 prog-rock band from Tipton, Reflection of Alternate Dimensions is actually a pretty cool looking exhibition / pop-up shop taking place in Jaguar Shoes. The mind behind it all is that of brilliant illustrator Chrissie Abbot, designer of album artwork for Little Boots and Patrick Wolf, whose work explores the concept of parallel dimensions. The best bit is, they've applied her designs to everything from socks to mugs, which you can presumably drink herbal tea from while discussing the quantum field theory.

Thursday 12th April
Vintage Rocks @ Rock Candy

On Thursday night you can mix pleasure with more pleasure at Rock Candy, Holloway, who'll be hosting a night of live music, fashion shows, vintage shopping and more general entertainment. Kick it in the front row like Anna Wintour and watch models appear seemingly from a time-portal in original garms straight from the '50s to the early '90s. Then afterwards, the vintage market outside will give you the opportunity to turn that inspiration into shopping bags. Fun for all.

Friday 13th April
In Bed with 1000 Madonnas @ Rio Cinema

Forget the Sundance Festival, this is quite possibly the film event of the year. As part of Fringe, the East London Gay Film Festival, Dalston's Rio Cinema will show a late-night screening of Madonna's infamous 1991 documentary 'In Bed With Madonna', hosted by colourful tranny with a fanny Holestar. Fancy dress is encouraged – you can be anything from a Monroe-esque Material Girl, a Like a Virgin bridal whore, or get political with your best Eva Peron pencil skirt. Can Sundance offer you a vogue-off? Thought not.
