Sunday the new Saturday? Our resident clubbing expert takes a look at the best Sunday parties the capital has to offer.

I was once told a story by friend who, upon starting her normal Sunday afternoon jog, had barely got to the end of the road when she came across a small crowd of people queuing outside a doorway on Brick Lane. The group turned out to be her friends, and the nondescript doorway was the entrance to a club. So before she knew it, naturally, she'd abandoned her jog, paid her entrance fee and stayed out raving until Monday morning, complete with running trainers and stopwatch.

As she came to realise that day, Sunday has become an essential part of any discerning clubber's weekend diary. Whether you're fresh from a sensible Saturday in front of Take Me Out or still soldiering on from a particularly messy night-before, there are a host of events taking place from Sunday morning until the early hours of Monday to please every end of the clubbing spectrum.

The very-very late Saturday crowd descend upon Jaded, at Cable, which has become the after-party du jour since it moved from Egg to the London Bridge club. Techno and tech-house bounce around the bricked arches from 5am onwards, paying little respect to insignificant annoyances like time or sleep. Maya Jane Coles, Mr C and Chris Stanford have all made appearances over the past year.

For those in the Brick Lane area, give the market a swerve and head straight for Fuse, a free party at 93 Feet East, where a smile and a dedication to carrying on the weekend is admission enough. The weekly tech-house soiree has become a haven for Sunday clubbers since its inception in 2008 – I can almost set my clock by the texts that come through on a Sunday afternoon from various friends with the solitary suggestion of....”Fuse?”. It offers a more relaxed space to party in, complete with an outdoor courtyard, which gives you the added bonus of a BBQ and a valid reason to be wearing sunglasses.

As the Sunday sun sets, you can quieten that voice that screams, “Oh my god I've got to work tomorrow,” by heading to the charmingly named Wet Yourself, which takes place every Sunday night at Fabric. Minimal, techno and electronica play out from 11pm to a panic-attack inducing 6am Monday morning.

The real treat for Sunday clubbers though comes courtesy of the polysexual Horse Meat Disco at The Eagle, Vauxhall. In terms of DJs, atmosphere and music, it is quite simply the best weekly residency on the London clubbing circuit. The gay crowd dance alongside a clued-up straight crowd to the finest selection of disco and house you'll find in the capital on any night of the week. An open mind and your best dancefloor moves are a necessity for this one, and it's best to get a good night's sleep beforehand if you want to really appreciate the lively atmosphere and enjoyment of it all.

As well as these weekly parties, there are also a load of Sunday events which take place intermittently throughout the year. Keep your eyes open for this year's installments from the original Sunday party 'Secretsundaze', who will have been throwing their stylish, hedonistic parties for 10 years this summer. On top of that there's also the Half Baked parties, which run once a month at some great warehouse spaces around the East End. With all this on offer, a roast dinner and Songs of Praise never looked less appealing.
