Tomas Olesen on P Diddy hooking up with Skepta over Twitter

Despite changing his nickname to one that clearly means small penis, and owning a clothing line that has diabolically featured fur trim of Asian Raccoon Dogs, P Diddy remains one of the most powerful figures in U.S music. So when he starts asking London who should do a grime remix of his new single, 'Hello Goodmorning', via his Twitter account, you can bet London is going to sit up and take notice. Clearly a lot of people replied to him that Skepta was the man he was looking for because this morning Skepta tweeted:
"just woke up to about 100 of you recommending #ME to @iamdiddy that is Love. Big up everybody that believes in me"
...and Diddy said:
"@Skepta the people said we should talk. Dm me a contact! Let's gooooooo!!!"
Looks like Skepta, the man behind the single 'Bad Boy', will be working with Diddy, the man behind the label Bad Boy, which has a nicely synchronistic feel to it.
Mr. Diddy also wants to assure the world that this isn't bandwagonism and in fact he's been into grime for a while.
"4 the record I've always been a fan of grime I remember the 1st time I heard it! Blew my mind. This is the 1st song I had that it could work"
It's true that the single practically sounds like a grime beat anyway: think hard Neptunes-style beat with a wall of stretched 808 bass booms.
So how have they left things? Well, like this:
"@Skepta good talkin to you. Let's see if we can catch a vibe. And if its meant to be then we let the people hear it. Thank u 4 hittin back"
"@iamdiddy 100% G. Love"
P Diddy isn't just doing a local mix for the UK release either,
"whatever mix I do for the uk I promise that I will get it played in US so they get exposed 2 the sound, u play our music we should play yours"
Looks like 2010 is going to be the year the pop-grime thing goes international. I think a 'BrrrrAAAP!' is in order.
