For those of us who know the London Film Festival, it is an absolutely essential date on the calendar. If you've never been, this is the perfect year to get acquainted. Like a fine old vintage, The Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival has come of age.
'Year
after year, the festival provides a host of
fascinating, brilliant and inspiring films, discussions and
events' says Isabel Freer of Working Title Films, who notes that the
show is not just about Hollywood blockbusters. 'The festival audience
can enjoy the very best in film from around the world, features,
shorts, documentaries and more.... [there's] something for everyone.'
With over 200 films lined up for screenings, the festival may seem daunting to some. But fear not. The LFF has built its reputation on being the world's most accessible film event. What's more, we've put together a guide to some of the best flicks. There's tangible optimism in the film world this year and this party has been a long time in the making; so join in.
