The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is a non-profit arts space located on The Mall, SW1. The centre houses a restaurant/cafe, cinema, bookshop, gallery and live music space. The theater venue, where the music is held, is located at the back of the centre and has a capacity of 350. The venue is easily reached from Picadilly Circus or Charing Cross tube stations.
The concept of the ICA was conceived in 1947 by poet Herbert Read, who wanted to create a "laboratory" of sorts, for the contemporary arts. The ICA has a rich history featuring contributions from artists such as T.S Eliot, Yoko Ono and Jackson Pollock. The ICA to this day still hosts top quality music events throughout the year in the theater.
