The Montague Arms

The Montague Arms
289 Queens Rd, New Cross
London, SE15 2PA

An idiosyncratic gem. Stuck out on a bend of the main road between Peckham and Europe, the Montague has by tradition attracted coach loads of tourists bound for Dover. Somewhere in the attics of neat homes across Holland must be snaps of this weird English pub, with its zebra heads and maritime knick-knacks – perhaps even a group shot with laconic Stan, the landlord of past. It’s not only Eurostar and easyJet that have changed the dynamic of this low-ceilinged anomaly – locals, who 20 years ago would have scoffed at the Casio entertainment provided by Peter ‘Two Moogs’ London from the main stage, now cherish and patronise it. The once famous music venue has risen again..the quirkiest pub in the universe is back with a new steam-punk look and still with plenty of dead head taxidermy. Specialising in american craft ale and real ale from the finest breweries in the UK and one of the only pubs in London to serve meantimes brewery fresh lager. Come down and check it out for yourself. The Montague Arms is located directly between New Cross Gate Station and Queens Road Peckham Station, it's about a 5-10 minute walk from either. Both of these stations are on the East London Line and National Rail from London Bridge. The Montague Arms is also located on the 436, 36, 136, 177 and 171 bus routes. Get off at Pomeroy Street. The Montague Arms, Queens Road, Peckham, London. SE14 2PA. Open everyday from 4.30pm- 11.00pm.
